Description: Portrait of Charles I, King of England (1600-49), in an architectural frame with allegorical figures and historical representations. The king is represented in half-sight, beside a winged hourglass with skull, on either side festoons with symbols of impermanence on the left and wealth and power on the right. Above personifications of History, the lamenting Justice and Fame. On the left Faith, on the right Hope. Below on the left the reigning King Charles I seated on the throne, on the right his beheading I in 1649. All scenes illustrated with texts. Pendant of SK-A-3882, portrait of Cromwell.
