Description: Interior of a probable Haarlem book and art store. Behind the counter on the left the shopkeeper with next to her a boy sewing a book behind a sewing frame. Behind them racks with stocks of unbound paper on the top two shelves. Below them are bound or brocaded books, while on the fourth shelf from above are presumably bound books placed with the cut and thus with the locks facing us. In front against the counter are, from left to right, a book in a block press, a beater stone with a beater hammer on it and an empty block press. Behind the counter on the right is the shopkeeper with a customer. In the cabinet against the back wall are packs of unbound books (in sheets) or blank paper, and on the top shelf are globes, among other things. To the right are two customers with (wind?) dogs looking at the artwork on the wall, presumably paintings, prints and/or drawings.
